Stark’s Update – October 2017

Dear Friends and Family,

On Saturday I will leave with my youngest son, Tony Andrew, for a two week safari to Uganda, Africa.  It was 27 years ago that we made our move to Uganda as missionaries.  Andrew was two years old at the time.  I remember our opportunity to minister as a family the first week we were there.  We were staying in a missionary’s house in Jinja.  Some men from an island in Lake Victoria took us in a hand carved, log boat to the island.  I preached under a tree to a group of attentive people.  Although I never saw them again, we know they heard the gospel. That was the beginning of Andrew and me reaching the people of East Africa.  I could tell you about a time a couple years later when Andrew and I went to a village to preach.  It was almost sundown when we had a flat tire.  I let him change the tire.  You should have seen the crowd that gathered to watch that little blond-headed boy change a tire.  I had a great time preaching to them, and Andrew passed out many tracts.

Andrew is taking two weeks off work to escort his dad back to Africa.  With my son assisting me, Kathy and our other children feel comfortable about me going. I think we will make a good team.  We will visit Buhimba, Masindi, Mt.Otzi and places along the way where there are believers because the Lord and Madison Baptist Church sent a family to preach the gospel.  We will spend one night by the Nile and travel up the river the next day by boat.  I wish you could be with us.

Pray for us both to be and do what God wants. Pray for us to walk in the Spirit and the strength of the Lord.  Pray for wisdom and discernment.  We are taking 200 fix-tuned, solar powered radios.  Pray we will not have to pay customs on the radios, and that later they will be put in the right hands.

I am thankful for how the Lord continues to use fellow believers to help us with the Lord’s work.  I am grateful for the many prayer warriors that uphold us before the almighty God who can do anything, any time, any place with anyone.  Pray this will be another Ephesians 3:20-21 experience.  To God be the glory for what He is going to do

    Your missionary, Tony Stark
